Parents Association AGM 2010

The Parents Association AGM was held in PSN on Tuesday 19th October @ 7.30pm.

Secretary Sharon Callow briefly summarised the minutes of last years AGM. Chairperson Marie Ó Laoi welcomed everyone and gave a brief account of the activities of the Association during the past year. Treasurer Susan O'Grady presented the Accounts for the year-end outlining the amounts fundraised by the PA and also monies spent over the year. A motion to adapt amendments to the PA constitution was proposed. Copies of the amendments were present for all parents to read before voting. The motion was passed unanimously. Principal Pat Mc Kenna addressed the meeting and thanked the committee for the great work and contribution they make to the school which is very much appreciated by himself, Brid and all the staff. He spoke of the friendly working relationship the PA have with all the staff. Marie Ó Laoi announced that she was stepping down as Chairperson. Pat & Brid thanked her for leading the committee over the past 2 years and praised her for her enthusiasm & determination to get things done. Marie thanked Pat & Brid and the committee and, in particular - Sharon & Susan, for their support during the past 2 years. The meeting concluded @ 8pm.


The 1st meeting of the new Committee was held on Tues 2nd Nov @ 8pm in PSN. Officers for the coming year were elected as follows:

Vice-Chairperson: Joe Lawlor
Secretary: Fiona Dunne
Vice-Secretary: Orna Morrissey
Treasurer: Susan O'Grady
Vice-Treasurer: Eimear Shanahan

Talk For Parents

A talk for parents took place on Tues 19th Oct @ 8pm in PSN immediately after the AGM.

The Talk titled Transition from Primary to Secondary was presented by Mr Frank Smith B.Comm, MBS, HDE, HDSDP; who has extensive experience at all levels of the Irish Education System. The tallk was aimed particularly for Parent's of Ist Year Students in the school, but all parents were welcome. There was a very good attendance and very positive feedback was given by those parents present.
