The Fingal Conhairle Na nÓg AGM was held in Swords on Thursday the 25th of March. Three PSN students , Will Cooper, Sayeda Leahy and Glenn Stevenson attended the meeting. Comhairle aims to involve students in matters of local politics, and encourage young people to take an active role in politics as a whole.
The meeting consisted of various team building activities, educational workshops and motivational speeches, one of which came from our very own Will Cooper. Students were given the task of organizing themselves in the convention hall in order of size without speaking. This proved to be an interesting example of the various ways that people communicate, and highlighted the importance of leadership in our society.
Students were then divided into groups and asked to discuss various topics, such as national identity and drug addiction. At the end of the day,a nominee from each group presented the group’s findings to the congregation. All three PSN representatives agreed that it was a very enjoyable day, and that they each walked away feeling inspired and satisfied.
Fingal Comhairle na n’Óg will be holding its annual elections in late September. If you are interested in becoming elected ,or just have an interest in politics, talk to Miss Glennon in Room 14.
